Push and Pull
The Millennials have checked many boxes on their to-do list in just a few short years. Hearts full of music provide the counterweight to a story driven by hard work and ambition.
The six-piece rock band doesn’t just want to play, they aspire to learn and grow, producing plenty of significant milestones in the last three years, but leaving much still to prove.
Founders Michael Henehan (lead guitar) and Jonathan Tatooles (drums) didn’t win the Battle of The Bands competition that first brought them together, but the experience was enough to spur the pair into finding the just the right combination of players so they wouldn’t look back.
RJ Guido (guitar) and Victor Buccatello (keys), Lindsay Kent (vocals) and Sam Peters (bass) all came aboard in the time since, assembling a sizable repertoire of cover songs which reflect the spirit of the ensemble’s influences. From classic rock, funk, and blues to contemporary indie-jams and maybe even a smattering of 80s hair-metal, the sound represents the collective push and pull of creating from a place of mutual respect.
It’s working. Along the way, the group has scored some prime opening slots, music festival bookings, and even a prime-time event at 2018’s Switch On Summer opening of Chicago’s iconic Buckingham Fountain.
Once you plant the seeds and they start to bear fruit, the next challenge is to harness it into something sustainable and (oh, my!) professional. Recognizing this, the band has reached out to some working musicians, producers, and industry-types as mentors as they start to write the next chapter, including recording originals at Kiwi Audio that will drop in early 2019.
Most of the band is still in high school and no member has reached the ripe age of 20 – so there is still much to discover. But they’ve already uncovered much joy in creating together as a unit, and that comes across in each performance.
